The Yukon City Council has given the green light to a tax increment finance district that will support a major $73 million development along Yukon Parkway. The project is set to include a youth sports facility, medical office space, a hotel, and several restaurants.
Under the approved plan, the city will use future property tax revenue generated by the development to pay for public infrastructure improvements. This approach, known as tax increment financing, allows the city to invest in roads, utilities, and other upgrades without raising existing taxes. The goal is to attract private investment and boost economic activity in the area.
The youth sports facility is expected to draw families and tournaments to the region, while the medical offices aim to provide local healthcare services. The hotel and restaurants are designed to serve both visitors and residents, creating a hub of activity along the busy corridor.
City officials say the project will create jobs during construction and after completion. They also expect it to increase the tax base over time, which could fund future public services. The development is part of a broader effort to revitalize the Yukon Parkway area and make it a destination for shopping, dining, and recreation.
Construction is expected to begin later this year, with some phases opening in 2026.
