AbbVie Inc. has secured a regulatory win in Canada for its new aesthetic treatment. On June 23, 2026, the company's Allergan Aesthetics division announced that Health Canada has approved Boey for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines, commonly known as frown lines between the eyebrows, in adults.
With this approval, Boey becomes the first and only botulinum toxin product authorized in Canada specifically for this indication. The treatment targets the muscles responsible for creating vertical wrinkles on the forehead, offering patients a non-surgical option to smooth out these signs of aging.
The approval marks a significant step for AbbVie as it continues to expand its portfolio in the medical aesthetics market. Boey is expected to compete directly with established neuromodulators like Botox, which is also owned by AbbVie through its Allergan acquisition. The company has not yet disclosed a specific launch date for Boey in Canada, but the regulatory green light positions it to enter a competitive landscape where demand for minimally invasive cosmetic procedures remains strong.
AbbVie is currently recognized as one of the 12 most profitable S&P 500 stocks, reflecting its strong financial performance across both its pharmaceutical and aesthetics businesses.
